OSHAWA, Ont. — The Holland Hurricanes suffered a heart-breaking loss at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) men’s soccer championship.
The Red Deer Kings edged the Hurricanes 2-1 in penalty kicks of a quarter-final game on Wednesday.
The Hurricanes got off to a strong start as Alex Lourenso gave the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) champions a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute.
The Hurricanes would take a 1-0 lead into halftime, but the Kings would even the score in the second half.
The Hurricanes are back on the pitch in Oshawa, Ont., on Thursday at 1:30 p.m., Atlantic Time. They will take on the losing team of Wednesday evening’s quarter-final between the Durham Lords and Douglas Royals.
