Fredericton scores come-from-behind victory over Charlottetown in major midget hockey

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Matthew McHatten tied it and Joshua Nadeau won it as the Fredericton Caps scored twice in the third period to defeat the host Charlottetown Bulk Carriers Knights 4-3 Saturday in New Brunswick/Prince Edward Island Major Midget Hockey League action.

It was Nadeau’s second goal of the night while Cody Gilbert also scored in the victory at MacLauchlan Arena.

Jeremie Thibodeau, Mathieu Collet, Noah Gibbs, McHatten and Zachary Graham each chipped in an assist in the win.

Jesse Blanchard scored twice for the Knights while Gabe Hartlen had one. Landon MacDonald, Colby MacDonald, Nolan Stewart, Nick Reeves and Cameron MacLean each had an assist.

Matthew Parker stopped 20 shots in the win while Jack Howatt stopped 30 shots in the loss.

Fredericton led 2-1 after the first period but entered the third trailing 3-2. The Caps went 1-for-3 on the power play while the Knights were 1-for-2.

Fredericton improved to 18-17-2 while Charlottetown is 11-20-6. The teams play again today at 11 a.m. at the Cavendish Farms Wellness Centre in Three Rivers.
