KINKORA, P.E.I. — Elizabeth Phillips is making the most of sports opportunities in her senior year at Kinkora Regional High School (KRHS).
The 18-year-old daughter of Pete and Lisa Phillips of Cape Traverse represents the Blazers in five P.E.I. School Athletic Association (PEISAA) sports and is KRHS’s latest recipient of the Greco Pizza/Capt. Sub student-athlete of the month award.
Elizabeth played the middle position on the PEISAA senior A girls’ volleyball gold-medal-winning team; point guard on the provincial-champion KISHORA basketball team; she competed in powerlifting, and in the spring will participate in doubles badminton with Victoria Corney and softball, where her position is the pitcher.
KISHORA is a combined team from KRHS and Kensington Intermediate-Senior High School (KISH).
“Elizabeth Phillips was a team captain and a leading scorer for the provincial (senior) A (girls’) champion basketball team,” said basketball coach Norah Pendergast. “Elizabeth played tough defence and was a major offensive threat.
“Elizabeth is a leader on and off the court.”
Outside of school, Elizabeth participates in cross-fit with her family in Summerside.
Elizabeth is also active in school life, serving as an executive member of the KRHS student council.
