Summerside Western Capitals take over sole possession of first place atop Maritime Junior Hockey League's overall standings

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Rookie Colby MacArthur, Marc-Andre LeCouffe and Alec MacVicar played leading roles for the Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals on Thursday night.
MacArthur had a goal and two assists, LeCouffe chipped in with three helpers and MacVicar turned in a 42-save performance as the Caps outlasted the Miramichi Timberwolves 7-4.
The Caps improved to 11-3-0 (won-lost-overtime losses) and took over sole possession of first-place overall in the 12-team Maritime Junior Hockey League.
Before 529 fans at the Miramichi Civic Centre, Zach Thususka (1-1), Brodie MacArthur (1-1), Josh MacDonald (1-1), Marc Richard, Bennett MacArthur and Kallum Muirhead also scored for the Capitals. Cam Roberts and Brodie MacMillan added single assists.
Kennedy Gallant of Charlottetown and James Walker each had a goal and an assist to lead the Timberwolves (4-7-2). Brendan Milson and Charles-Andre Cypihot also scored.
The Caps, who were outshot 46-33, held period leads of 2-0 and 4-2. Ben Gibbon was between the pipes for Miramichi.
The Caps were assessed four of the game’s six minor penalties.
The game’s three stars were:
1. Colby MacArthur (Caps), 2. Marc-Andre LeCouffe (Caps), 3. Kennedy Gallant (Timberwolves).
The Caps host the Edmundston Blizzard (9-2-0) on Saturday at 7 p.m.
