CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Cameron MacLean and Colby Huggan each had two goals and an assist Sunday as the Charlottetown Bulk Carriers Knights ran their record to 3-0-0 at the True Sports Island Cup.
The Wild defeated the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild 9-1 at MacLauchlan Arena.
Jesse Blanchard added a pair of goals in the victory while singles went to Caleb MacDonald, Jude Campbell and Cole McKeigan. Harry Clements and Campbell each had three assists while captain Max Chisholm chipped in a pair and singles went to Nolan Stewart, Luke Coughlin, Will Morrison, Isaac Vos and MacDonald.
Avery Brown from Beau Dawson and Kieran Rennie scored a power-play goal for Kensington.
Aiden Williams turned aside 13 shots for the win. Kiefer Thompson stopped 39 of 46 shots in the first two periods for the Wild while Josh Smith stopped 19 of 21 shots in the third.
Charlottetown held 2-0 and 7-1 period leads.
The Knights lead the four-team competition with a perfect record while the Wild (1-2-0) is tied for second.
Charlottetown wraps up the round robin Friday with a 5:15 p.m. game at the Eastlink Centre with the Mount Academy under-18 squad. The Wild play the Mount’s under-17 squad Friday at 7:30 p.m., also at Eastlink Centre.
The Mount’s two teams meet Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Eastlink Centre. The event is slated to end March 13 with a championship game.
