SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Three members of the Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals have been recognized for their play in November.
Linemates Kallum Muirhead and Brodie MacArthur were named the first and second Gongshow stars of the month, respectively, while defenceman Zach Biggar was Pro Design Cresting rookie of the month.
Yarmouth goaltender Justin Sumarah rounded out the three stars of the month.
Muirhead, a 20-year-old forward from Charlottetown, led all players with 26 points for the month. He led the league with 17 assists and his nine goals were tied for the second-most in the league in November, only trailing MacArthur’s 11.
Muirhead was held off the scoresheet just once for the month, and all but two games were multi-point efforts.
MacArthur, a 20-year-old forward from Summerside, finished the month with 14 assists and 25 points and leads the league with 51 points on the season. MacArthur is riding an 18-game point streak, where all but two have been multi-point games.
He was the first star of the month for October.
Biggar, a 16-year-old from Portage, led all rookies with 17 points (four goals and 13 assists) in November. He registered at least one point in all 10 of the Capitals’ games and two of his four goals held up as game-winners for Summerside.
Biggar was also tied for the third most points in November overall.
The Capitals (21-3-0-1) lead the league and were ranked seventh in the national rankings this week, moving up five spots from the week before.
Sumarah, a 19-year-old from Halifax, led all netminders with six wins, helping the Mariners climb back into first place in the Eastlink South Division. He posted a 2.58 goals-against average and had a league-leading two shutouts.
