Arbing makes 52 stops as Wild beats Knights 3-2

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. —

Donovan Arsenault scored the winner late in the second period Friday as the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild defeated the Charlottetown Bulk Carriers Knights 3-2 at MacLauchlan Arena.

It was the last meeting between the P.E.I. rivals before the teams play a best-of-seven championship series to determine who represents the province at the Atlantic in Corner Brook, N.L. No schedule has been released for the P.E.I. major midget series.

Sam MacNeill and Dixon MacLeod also scored in the victory with assists going to Kalib Snow, Landon Clow, MacNeill, Reid Peardon and Keiran Gallant.

Gabe Hartlen and Gage Taylor scored for the Knights with Nolan Stewart, Kal White and Simon Hughes each recording an assist.

Jonah Arbing made 52 saves for the victory while Aiden Williams stopped 28 shots in the loss.

The game was tied 1-1 after the first period while Kensington led 3-2 heading to the third.

Kensington improved to 22-11-4 in New Brunswick/Prince Edward Island Major Midget Hockey League regular season play while Charlottetown is 11-19-6.

The Knights host the Fredericton Caps today at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. The Wild hosts the Saint John Vitos at 7:30 p.m. The teams complete the regular season with road games in New Brunswick next week with Kensington in Bathurst to play Northern on Wednesday and Charlottetown in Fredericton on Thursday.
