HALIFAX – Mike Leslie of the Halifax Hurricanes has been named the National Basketball League of Canada coach of the month for February.
Leslie, who previously earned coach-of-the-month honours in January 2017, led the Hurricanes to an 8-1 (won-lost) record in February, including a six-game winning streak from Feb. 10 to 27.
“Coach Leslie really did a great job getting his guys’ game ready over the course of the last month, and it was his strong preparation and attention to detail which resulted in some important wins over divisional opponents,” said NBL of Canada deputy commissioner Audley Stephenson. “Those wins prove to be important down the stretch as the Hurricanes look to secure home-court advantage in the playoffs, which is something Mike and his squad certainly recognize the importance of.”
The Hurricanes sit atop the Atlantic Division with an overall record of 21-10.
Leslie is a former athletic director at Three Oaks Senior High School in Summerside, and he was also principal at Kinkora Regional High School.
