KENSINGTON – Johnny Lauwerijssen has been lauded for his leadership skills, on and off the basketball court.

The Grade 12 student has been recognized as the Greco Pizza/Capt. Sub student-athlete of the month at Kensington Intermediate-Senior High School. The 17-year-old son of Beth Larsen and John Lauwerijssen played the small forward position.
“(Johnny was) always someone I could rely on on offence, whether it be taking the ball to the net or scoring a three-point shot,” said KISH coach Hannah Harrington. “His commitment to the team, rarely, if ever, missing practice, is what made him such a great leader and captain in our season this year.”
Johnny, who previously played baseball, is also involved in school life at KISH. He is a member of the student council, Aggies agriculture group and the jazz band.
Following graduation from high school in June, Johnny plans to study dairy management at Dalhousie Agriculture College in Truro, N.S.
