Islanders lose to Mooseheads in overtime

Charlottetown battles back after falling behind 3-0

HALIFAX, N.S. - Benoit-Olivier Groulx scored 3:53 into overtime to give the host Halifax Mooseheads a 4-3 victory over the Charlottetown Islanders Tuesday in Halifax.

Jared McIsaac gave the home side the lead 57 second into the game. Arnaud Durandeau made it 2-0 at 15:33 and Antoine Morand made it 3-0 21 seconds later.

Derek Gentile got one back for the visitors in the second period when Charlottetown outshot Halifax 15-2.

Colin Van Den Hurk scored 2:51 into the third and Daniel Hardie tied it 29 seconds later.

Samuel Asselin, Ostap Safin, Jordan Maher, Jake Ryczek, Jocktan Chainey, McIsaac and Raphael Lavoie each had an assist for Halifax.

Nikita Alexandrov had two assists for Charlottetown while singles went to Hunter Drew, Keith Getson, Gentile and Thomas Casey.

Alexis Gravel made 33 saves for the win while Matthew Welsh stopped 18 shots in the loss.

Halifax improved to 17-4-1-0 while Charlottetown is 14-7-2-0. The Islanders head to northern New Brunswick Friday to play the Acadie-Bathurst Titan before coming home to host Cape Breton Saturday and Baie-Comeau Sunday.
