CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - The Holland College Hurricanes men’s baseball team had four straight wins last weekend and finished the Canadian Collegiate Baseball Association (CCBA) Atlantic division regular season 10-0.

Holland College downed the St. FX X-Men 5-4 and 18-3 in doubleheader action Sunday in Charlottetown after thumping the Dalhousie Tigers 16-3 and 12-2 on Saturday in Halifax, N.S.

Holland College now moves on to the Canadian collegiate baseball championship Oct. 25-28 in Toronto. It’s hosted by the Humber College Hawks.

Sunday

Game 2

Hurricanes 18, X-Men 3

Holland College exploded for 18 runs in three and two-thirds innings and the game was called by the Baseball Canada’s 10-run mercy rule.

Charles MacLellan recorded the win, with Parker Gallant entering the game in relief.

Game 1

Hurricanes 5, X-Men 4

The Hurricanes erased a 4-2 deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning keyed by an RBI double by Curtis McGregor which scored the Hurricanes first run in the frame. Walks by Chasse Gallant and Jay Oram secured the win.

Chandler Laporte (2-0) earned the complete-game victory.

Saturday

Game 2

Hurricanes 12, Tigers 2 

Tyler Johnston improved to 3-0 with a five-inning complete-game effort, allowing two runs on four hits and retiring five Tigers hitters by way of strikeout. 

Matt Barlow (2-5, three RBIs) and Jay Oram (2-3) paced the Hurricanes offence.

Cam MacPherson was 1-for-2 for Dalhousie with a run scored against Johnston.

Game 1

Hurricanes 16, Tigers 3

Ryan Abraham worked five innings, allowing three runs on five hits and recording four strikeouts, to earn his third win of the season while McLellan (2-3, two RBI, three runs scored) led the way at the plate.

Johnathan Savidant wrapped up for the save. 

Oram, Curtis McGregor and Gallant each had two hits for Holland College.

Leadoff hitter Jayden Jones (2-3, two doubles) carried the Tigers offence.
