CHARLOTTETOWN - The Holland College Hurricanes split an important two-game set with the UNB Red Blazers in Eastern Canadian Women’s Hockey League (ECWHL) action in P.E.I.

UNB won 2-1 on Saturday in Montague, but Holland College rebounded with a 5-0 win on Sunday in Charlottetown.

On Sunday, the ‘Canes Katelyn Dunn scored twice while Jess Redmond (1-1), Samantha Woodworth and Colle Derry chipped in singles. Sam Higgins and Erin Picco each had two assists.

Mackenzie Koughan (7-2) earned the goaltending win over Kayleigh Robertson.

Saturday, Derry had the lone ‘Canes goal. Picco tallied the assist. 

Kara MacDonald (1-1) and Hayley Hallihan (1-1) netted the UNB markers.

Kate Northrup got the win over Koughan. 

The Hurricanes went to 8-4 this season and sit in first place ahead of UNB, which fells to 7-3.

Holland College returns to action Feb. 3-4 with two games against UNB in Fredericton, N.B.
