SOURIS, P.E.I. — Jack King scored the winner Monday as the Kings County Kings doubled the Mid-Isle Matrix 4-2 to take Game 1 of the Prince Edward Island Midget AAA Hockey League semifinal.

Game 2 of the best-of-five series goes Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the APM Centre in Cornwall.

Cam White and Jake MacLaren scored unassisted goals in the first period to give the Kings a 2-0 lead heading to the second period at the Eastern Kings Sportsplex in Souris.

Reese Wyand and Malcolm MacDonald tied it 13 minutes into the second period before King scored for the home side with 1:50 remaining in the middle stanza.

Owen MacNeil scored the insurance marker with 1:47 left in the third.

Joe MacEachern, Wyand and Daniel Godfrey had assists for the Matrix. White had the lone helper for the Kings.

Nicolas Jamieson earned the win while Ty Arsenault took the loss.

Mid-Isle was 0-for-3 on the power play while the Kings were 0-for-1.
