SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Island hockey fans will get a good first look at some of the Maritime Junior Hockey League teams this summer before the regular season begins.
The Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals are hosting the Battle of the Bridge pre-season tournament Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 at Credit Union Place’s Eastlink Arena.
The tournament will consist of the Amherst Ramblers, Pictou County Weeks Crushers and the Edmundston Blizzard.
Games will be 50 minutes in length with a 20-minute first period, a flood of the ice and two 15-minute periods.
The league has also announced the schedule for the upcoming season.
It is moving to a balanced 52-game regular season, an increase of two games from 2018-19.
