CHARLOTTETOWN – It’s playoff time for the Prince County Warriors of the P.E.I. Major Bantam AAA Hockey League.
The O’Leary-based squad will open the best-of-five semifinal series against the Eastern Express at the Pownal Sports Centre on Tuesday at 6:20 p.m. Game 2 is at the O’Leary Community Sports Centre on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
The Express completed the regular season in second place at 15-10-5 (won-lost-tied), and the Warriors were third at 14-14-2.
The first-place Central Attack (21-6-3) will take on the fourth-place Mid-Isle Matrix (4-26-0) in the other semifinal series, which gets underway at Simmons Sport Centre in Charlottetown on Wednesday at 6:20 p.m.
The Warriors split their final two regular-season games over the weekend, defeating the Matrix 9-2 and dropping a 5-3 decision to the Attack.

At the O’Leary Community Sports Centre, the Warriors built period leads of 2-1 and 6-1.
Zach Biggar (3-1), Carson Wood (2-1), Sid McNeill (1-1), Sam Hackett, Donovan Arsenault and Colby MacDonald scored for the Warriors. Frederick Morency (2), Max Chisholm (2), Garrett Culleton and Cody McCormack added helpers.
Carson MacKay netted both goals for the Matrix, with assists credited to Reese Wyand, Kyle Mason and Angus Beaton.
Turner Ellis earned the goaltending win.

At Simmons Sport Centre, Jacob Squires (1-1), Alex Graham (1-1), Josh Lund, Niklas Reeves and Colby Huggan provided Central’s goals. Matt McQuaid, Reid Vos, Lukas Skinner, John MacKinnon and Tyler Worth assisted.
Arsenault, Chisholm and Jesse Blanchard countered for the Warriors. Single helpers were credited to Sam Hackett, Colby MacDonald, Sid McNeill and Zach Biggar.
Winning goaltender was Jack Howatt. Aiden Williams was in goal for Prince County.
