SUMMERSIDE – Alex Bishop now knows where he will be playing hockey next season.
The 20-year-old Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals goaltender has announced his commitment to the University of Toronto Varsity Blues for the 2018-19 campaign.
The Capitals, who play in the MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League), acquired Bishop from the Markham Majors of the Ontario Junior Hockey League on Jan. 1. Since joining the Capitals, Bishop has put up some impressive numbers.
In 12 regular-season games wearing the Caps’ red, white and blue uniforms, Bishop went 8-4 (won-lost) while posting a 2.40 goals-against average and a league second-best .932 save percentage.
After Wednesday night’s 39-save effort in a 4-1 road win over the Campbellton Tigers, Bishop is currently 3-0 in the playoffs, with a miniscule 1.08 goals-against average and .971 save percentage.
Bishop is from Richmond Hill, Ont.
