TYNE VALLEY – The Tyne Valley Farm Boys Inc. Tornadoes are off to a strong start in the West Prince Senior Hockey League.
Connor Dillon scored a hat trick, and Jeff Noye provided shutout goaltending in a 4-0 victory over the Tignish Aces. The opening game of the 2017-18 regular season was played before a full house of over 500 fans at the Tyne Valley Community Sports Centre.
TJ Campbell also scored for the Tornadoes, who are in their first season in the two-year-old league. Adam Ballum (2), Lukas Dyment, Jarrett McRae and Matt Ballum added assists.
The Tornadoes held period leads of 1-0 and 2-0.
Troy Ellsworth tended goal for the Aces.
The Tornadoes were assessed four of the game’s six minor penalties. Each team picked up one fighting major and game misconduct.
