CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Reilly Pickard made 49 saves and Aiden Jamieson had the shootout winner as the Dalhousie Tigers defeated the UPEI Panthers 4-3 Friday in Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey action.
Mike Evelyn, Andrew Shewfelt and Colton Heffley scored for the Tigers in regulation at MacLauchlan Arena. Zachary Taylor, Jackson Playfair, Ashton Anderson, Connor Welsh and former Charlottetown Islanders Dillon Boucher and Jake Barter had assists.
Kameron Kielly had a goal and an assist for the host Panthers while Filip Rydstrom and Riley Whittingham also scored. Sam Aulie, Brent Andrews, Gabe Guertler, Troy Lajeunese and Owen Headrck each had an assist.
Simon Hofley made 31 saves in the loss.
Dalhousie led 2-1 after the first period while the teams were tied 2-2 heading to the third. UPEI was 2-for-8 on the power play while Dalhousie was 1-for-4.
The last-place Tigers improved to 2-9-0 while the Panthers fall to 5-5-1. UPEI hosts the St. FX X-Men Saturday while the Tigers travel to Fredericton, N.B., to play the UNB Varsity Reds. Both games start at 7 p.m.
