Let bygones be bygones.
That’s the approach the players in the Vegas Golden Knights’ dressing room are taking with the arrival of former San Jose Sharks coach Peter DeBoer as the club’s new bench boss.
The Sharks and Knights have had huge battles over the years, which is why it was such a surprise to the Knights’ players when they got word DeBoer was taking over for Gerard Gallant.
“It was weird, maybe 10 months ago I wouldn’t have said a nice thing about him,” said winger Mark Stone, who was making his return to the Canadian Tire Centre for the first time since being dealt to the Knights by the Senators at last February’s trade deadline. “We we don’t say anything nice about the San Jose Sharks in our locker room.”
“I wouldn’t say I have the best track record with him,” winger Ryan Reaves told TSN. “I’m going to have to have a smile when I introduce myself, for sure, maybe a hug.”
