SRHL opens 50th anniversary season

SUMMERSIDE – One of Canada’s longest-running recreational hockey leagues opened a very special season recently.
A pair of games at Credit Union Place kicked off the 50th anniversary campaign of the Greco Pizza/Capt. Sub Summerside Recreational Hockey League.
The 200 Wing Colts defeated the Ramsay’s Law Rams 8-2, and the Centennial Auto Group outlasted MDS Coating 8-6.

Mark O'Keefe scored a hat trick to lead the Colts’ offence.  Chris Campbell (1-3), Ricky Gallant (1-3), Dylan Voth (1-1), Dan Kutcher and Matt Kutcher also scored for the winning team. Matt Power (2) and Adam Toner earned assists.
Faro Halupa and Neill Ramsay replied for the Rams. Mike Hindle (2) and Eric Ma added assists.
Eric LaFlemme was the winning goaltender.

Wayne Biggar (2-1), Tim Kember (2), Doug Gallant (1-2), Thomas MacArthur (1-1), Tyler Kember (1-1) and Todd Ramsay scored for Centennial.
Ben Mellish (1-1), Jeff MacCarthy (1-1), Phil Fisher (1-1), Steve Cormier (1-1), Jamie Casey and Mark Simmons replied for MDS. Brian Stewart added a helper.
Nick Annand earned the goaltending win.
