SUMMERSIDE – Forward Sullivan Sparkes and defenceman Noah Massie ignited the offence for the Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals on Thursday night.
Sparkes scored two goals and assisted on another while Massie had a goal and two helpers in leading the Caps to a 6-1 victory over the St. Stephen Aces. The MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League) attracted 838 fans to Eastlink Arena.

Kallum Muirhead (1-1), Cam Roberts and Conor MacEachern also scored for the Capitals, who have won five straight games and improved to 24-5-0 (won-lost-overtime losses). TJ Shea, Josh MacDonald, Brodie MacArthur, Jacob Arsenault, Jesse Annear and Dylan Riley, who was acquired along with Jacob Hickey from Pictou County on Wednesday, added assists.
Hickey also donned the Caps’ jersey for the first time Thursday night.

Andrew Antle netted the lone goal for the Aces (12-18-2).
The teams were tied 1-1 after the first period, but three unanswered second-period goals gave the Caps a 4-1 lead after 40 minutes.
Daniel Thompson made 18 saves to earn the goaltending win while Joey May had a much busier night in the Aces’ goal. May was tested 51 times, including 23 in the second period.

The Caps continue a stretch of three games in three nights on Friday in Campbellton against the Tigers (18-10-4). The Caps then visit the Miramichi Timberwolves (12-17-2) on Saturday night.
