The West Prince Senior Hockey League’s championship series will feature two familiar teams.
The Alberton Regals and O’Leary Maroons will decide the league title for the third year in a row. The schedule is expected to be announced shortly.
This matchup was determined on Wednesday night. Jason Smallman’s second goal of the game with 9:03 remaining in the first overtime period gave the Regals a 4-3 win over the Tyne Valley Tornadoes and a 3-1 series victory. O’Leary previously advanced with a sweep over the Wellington Flyers.

At the Jacques Cartier Arena in Alberton, Fidan Feta and Jesse MacIntyre also scored for the Regals. Tyson MacNeill (2), Morgan DesRoches, Alex Wallace, Mitch Hardy, Garrett Lewis and Willie Gaudet were credited with assists.
Mike O’Halloran (1-1), Evan Shea (1-1) and Brandon Williams countered for the Tornadoes in the back-and-forth game. TJ Campbell added a pair of helpers.
The Tornadoes jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period, but the Regals answered back to take a 3-2 cushion into the second intermission.
Travis Gaudette earned the goaltending win. Jake Hackett was between the pipes for Tyne Valley.
The Regals were assessed four of the game’s seven minor penalties.
