Sherwood scores seven first period goals in 12-3 junior C victory over Summerside

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Shawn Corney and Tanner Power each had five-point nights as the first-place Sherwood Metros blasted the Summerside Cover All Construction Crunch 12-3 Monday in Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League action.

The Crunch jumped out to a 7-1 lead after the first period and took a 10-2 lead to the third period.

Corney had four goals and an assist while Power had a goal and four helpers. Logan Toole and Jake Arsenault each had two goals and two assists while Derian Vessey scored twice and Stephen Gaudet recorded a single.

Brandon Sullivan and Cameron Jenkins each chipped in a pair of assists while Brad Jenkins, Marc Cummiskey and Hunter Boudreau each had one.

Colton Morris had a goal and an assist for Summerside while Remi Arsenault and Parker LeClair also scored and Brandon Arsenault had a helper.

James Duffy made 32 saves for the win while Logan Birt allowed eight goals on 31 shots in 53 minutes while starter Connor Gallant allowed four goals on 11 shots in seven minutes before being replaced.

The Metros went 3-for-5 on the power play and killed all four of the Crunch’s chances with the man advantage.

Sherwood improved to 24-2-0 while Summerside is 11-15-1.
