CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The UPEI Panthers are ranked seventh going into the U Sports women’s hockey championship on home ice this week.
The Panthers will play the second-seeded Montreal Carabins Thursday at 7 p.m. in quarter-final play at MacLauchlan Arena. The schedule was announced Sunday afternoon.

UPEI went 14-13-1 in the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) regular season and lost in the quarter-final to the UNB Varsity Reds.
Rachel Colle led the team in goals (10), assists (10) and points (20) during the regular season while Camille Scherger posted a 1.84 goals-against average and .932 save percentage while playing every minute of the season.
The Carabins won the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) championship after a 15-4-1 regular season. Jessica Cormier and Annie Germain led the team’s offence with 23 points. Aube Racine had a 13-3-0 record with a 1.68 goals-against average and .929 save percentage.
Third-ranked Guelph Gryphons plays the No. 6 Manitoba Bison in the first game of the tournament Thursday at 3 p.m.
Top-seeded Alberta Pandas plays No. 8 Toronto Varsity Blues Friday at 3 p.m. while AUS champion St. Thomas Thomas (4) and the McGill Martlets (5) play at 7 p.m. The semifinals go Saturday at with the championship game slated for 4 p.m. Sunday.
