TYNE VALLEY, P.E.I. — The Tyne Valley Tornadoes prevailed in a low-scoring West Prince Senior Hockey League game Thursday night.
The Tornadoes registered a big 3-1 win in a chippy affair over the O’Leary Maroons before a full house at the Tyne Valley Community Sports Centre to improve to 4-1-0 (won-lost-overtime losses). The Maroons, who defeated the Tornadoes 6-4 in O’Leary on Saturday night, fell to 4-2-0.
Evan Shea scored twice while TJ Campbell drew a pair of assists to pace the Tornadoes offensively. Hardy Callaghan chipped in with a single goal, and Evan Gallant added an assist.
Aaron Sweet netted the lone marker for O’Leary.
Tyne Valley led 2-1 after the first and second periods.
Jake Hackett prevailed over Chase Dyment in the goaltending matchup.
The Tornadoes were assessed eight minors, one fighting major and one game misconduct. The Maroons were whistled for nine minors.
League action resumes on Saturday as the Alberton Regals travel to the Evangeline Recreation Centre to take on the Wellington Flyers in a 7:30 p.m. start.
