TIGNISH – The championship series is now set in the West Prince Senior Hockey League.
The Alberton Regals will take on the defending-champion O’Leary Maroons in the best-of-five final series.
The Regals advanced with a 3-2 come-from-behind overtime win over the Tignish Aces on Saturday night. Alberton won the best-of-five semifinal series in four games. The Maroons also advanced with a 3-1 series win over the Wellington Flyers in the other semifinal series.
Game 1 of the championship series is scheduled for the Jacques Cartier Arena in Alberton on Wednesday at 8:15 p.m.
Before 733 fans at the Tignish Credit Union Arena, the Aces held period leads of 1-0 and 2-0, but two quick goals by Garrett Lewis (2:11) and Jesse MacIntyre (4:26) early in the third period pulled the Regals even. Logan Smallman then capped the comeback in overtime. MacIntyre, Kirk Ramsey and Matt Lefurgey chipped in with assists.
Willie Gaudet and Jake Arsenault found the back of the net for the Aces while Jordan Knox and Nathan Brennan set up the goals.
Spencer Rennie earned the goaltending win. Jonathan Gaudet handled the goaltending chores for Tignish.
