ABRAM-VILLAGE – The Island Junior Hockey League defending champions are red hot.
The Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings, who received a 44-save performance from goaltender Bronson Banks, outscored the Cap-Pelé Predators 5-3 in an interlocking game with the New Brunswick Junior Hockey League on Sunday night for their fifth win in a row.
The Red Wings, who have earned 14 of a possible 16 points in their last eight games, improved to 7-5-2 (won-lost-overtime losses).
At the Evangeline Recreation Centre, Connor Morrissey scored twice, and Isaac Knox contributed a goal and two assists to lead the Red Wings. Cole Hackett and Curklan Fraser also scored, with single helpers going to Abel Arsenault and Chasse Gallant.
Connor Hayes (2) and Cedric Cormier answered for the Predators.
The Red Wings held a 1-0 cushion after the first period, and the teams entered the second intermission tied 2-2.
