IJHL contest goes Sunday afternoon
ABRAM-VILLAGE – The Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings will host the Eastern Maniacs in an Island Junior Hockey League game on Sunday.
The opening faceoff at the Evangeline Recreation Centre is set for 2:15 p.m.
The league-leading Red Wings, who are 20-3-1 (won-lost-overtime losses), are coming off a big character win on the road Wednesday night. The Red Wings trailed the host Sherwood-Parkdale A&S Scrap Metal Metros 3-0, before rallying to win 4-3 in overtime.
The Maniacs enter weekend play 0-18-0, but a Red Wings’ spokesman noted the Souris-based team has added a couple of experienced players and Western will have to be ready.
