MacEwen nets third
goal of AHL season
SYRACUSE, N.Y. –
Utica Comets forward Zack MacEwen of Stratford scored his third goal of the 2018-19 American Hockey League regular season on Saturday night.
MacEwen opened the game’s scoring on a power play in the Comes’4-3 road win over the Syracuse Crunch.
MacEwen, who earned an assist in a 4-3 loss to the Cleveland Monsters on Friday night, has eight points in eight games.

Two-point night for
MacKinnon in Charlottetown
CHARLOTTETOWN –
Rimouski Oceanic forward Carson MacKinnon of Summerside earned two assists in his home province on Saturday night.
The Oceanic, however, would come up on the short end of a 5-4 decision to the Charlottetown Islanders in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League at Eastlink Centre.
MacKinnon, who has seven goals and nine assists for 16 points, will take a six-game point streak in Sunday afternoon’s game in Moncton.

McKenna, Spence
chip in offensively
MONCTON, N.B. –
Moncton Wildcats forward Jeremy McKenna of Summerside was selected the third star of a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League game on Saturday night.
McKenna scored his sixth goal and assisted on another in the Wildcats’ 7-2 win over the visiting Shawinigan Cataractes. McKenna will enter Sunday’s home game against Rimouski with 21 points in 12 regular-season games.
Moncton rookie defenceman Jordan Spence, who played junior A hockey with the Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals last season, also chipped in offensively, earning an assist. It gave Spence nine points – two goals and seven assists – in 12 regular-season games.

Titan captain Dobson
collects point
QUEBEC CITY –
Summerside native and defenceman Noah Dobson earned an assist on the Acadie-Bathurst Titan’s lone goal Saturday night.
The Quebec Remparts topped the visiting Titan 6-1 in a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League game.
Dobson has seven points – three goals and four assists – in nine regular-season contests.

Abram-Village native
earns helper for Crushers
AMHERST, N.S. –
Forward Evan Gallant of Abram-Village earned an assist for the Pictou County Weeks Crushers on Saturday night.
The Crushers dropped a 2-1 road decision to the Amherst Ramblers in the MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League).
Gallant, a product of the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild major midget program, has five points – one goal and four assists – in 12 regular-season games in his rookie campaign.

MIRAMICHI, N.B. –
Kennedy Gallant of Charlottetown assisted on the Miramichi Timberwolves’ game-winning goal Saturday night.
Gallant and Jeremie Hebert set up Matthew Briggs’s tie-breaking goal at 17:37 of the third period to lift the Timberwolves to a 5-4 win over the Grand Falls Rapids.
Gallant, a product of the Charlottetown Bulk Carriers Pride major midget program, has one goal and two assists for three points in nine regular-season games in his first year in the MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League).

Caseley turns in
32-save effort
YARMOUTH, N.S. –
Yarmouth Mariners goaltender Tyler Caseley registered 32 saves in a 5-2 victory over the Valley Wildcats on Friday night.
Caseley made 27 of those saves in the game’s final two periods as the Kensington native improved to 9-2-0 (won-lost-overtime losses). He has a 2.05 goals-against average and .935 save percentage in 11 games in his rookie season in the MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League).

Grenier nets second
goal for Ramblers
TRURO, N.S. –
Amherst Ramblers defenceman Dawson Grenier of Souris scored his second goal of the 2018-19 regular season on Friday night.
The Ramblers lost the MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League) game 6-2 to the host Truro Bearcats.
In 12 regular-season games, Grenier has six points on the strength of two goals and four assists.
