UTICA, N.Y. – A pair of Prince Edward Islanders collected points in the American Hockey League on Friday night.
Forward Zach MacEwen of Stratford earned an assist for the Utica Comets in a 4-3 loss to the Charlotte Checkers. MacEwen is off to a fast start with the top affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks with five points – one goal and four assists – in three regular-season games.
Forward and assistant captain Josh Currie of Charlottetown also collected a single helper for the Bakersfield Condors in a 3-2 shootout win over the San Jose Barracuda. Currie, who played with the Summerside Western Capitals’ junior team for the 2008-09 season and is an assistant captain of the Condors, has four points – one goal and three assists – in three regular-season games.
Bakersfield is the top affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers.
