A Prince Edward Islander has been traded in the MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League).

The Campbellton Tigers dealt 18-year-old defenceman Lucas MacAulay of Cardigan to the Grand Falls Rapids in a move announced Wednesday afternoon. Brendan Bornstein goes to the Tigers while the Rapids also receive the MHL rights to 16-year-old forward Evan Jackson of Moncton, N.B., Amherst’s first-round pick in the 2019 draft that was previously acquired and future considerations.

In 26 games in his rookie season with the Tigers, MacAulay had two goals, three assists, five points and 38 penalty minutes.

Bornstein, a 20-year-old defenceman who has experience in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, had 24 points, including four goals, and 16 penalty minutes in 23 games with the Rapids.

Seven Mile Bay native Nich Tremere is an assistant coach with Grand Falls.
