ABRAM-VILLAGE – It’s playoff time in the West Prince Senior Hockey League.
The Wellington Flyers will host the O’Leary Maroons in the opening game of one best-of-five semifinal series at the Evangeline Recreation Centre on Tuesday. The start time is 8:15 p.m.
The other semifinal series will open on Wednesday as the Tignish Aces visit the Alberton Regals at the Jacques Cartier Arena. Game time is also 8:15 p.m.
The Flyers finished the regular season in first place at 5-2-1 (won-lost-overtime losses). O’Leary was fourth at 3-5-0. Alberton and Tignish finished second and third with identical 5-3-0 records.
Regular season
The regular season concluded on Saturday night as Jacob LeClair scored with 0.6 seconds remaining in the third period to lift the Aces to a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over the Tyne Valley Tornadoes, who needed a win to qualify for the playoffs. Tyne Valley completed regular-season play 2-5-1.
The Tornadoes took a 3-1 lead into the final 20 minutes, after the first period ended in a 1-1 tie.
Mitch Doucette, Brett Gaudet and Willie Gaudet also scored for the Aces at the Tignish Credit Union Arena.
