Penalties proved costly to the Tignish Aces as the Sherwood Metros shut them out 5-0 in Razzy’s Roadhouse Island Junior C play Monday night at the Cody Banks Arena.

The Metros were out in front 3-0 after the first period and finished their scoring in the second. Their last three goals were on the power play while the gate to the Aces’ penalty box became a revolving door

The Aces were assessed 10 minors, a fighting major, a checking to the head major, four game misconducts and three 10-minute misconducts while the Metros were charged with five minors, a game misconduct and two 10-minute misconducts.

The Metros peppered 53 shots at Aces goaltender Andrew Gallant while James Duffy recorded the shutout for Sherwood, stopping all 23 shots he faced.
