Panthers shut out by Huskies in AUS women's hockey

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Siobhan Birch scored two power-play goals and Rebecca Clark had a 23-save shutout Saturday to lead the Saint Mary’s Huskies to a 3-0 victory over the host UPEI Panthers in Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey action.

Caitlin Pejkovic rounded out the scoring with 48 seconds left in the contest at MacLauchlan Arena in Charlottetown. Miranda Hatt, Kiana Wilkinson, Kaitlin Howarth, Taylor Keeping and Shae Demale each had an assist.

Saint Mary’s led 1-0 after the first and second periods.

Camille Scherger made 19 saves in the loss.

Saint Mary’s was 2-for-2 on the power play while UPEI was 0-for-4. The Huskies are tied with St. Thomas for first place in the conference with 4-1-0 records. UPEI (3-2-0) is fourth.

The Panthers travel to Fredericton, N.B., Sunday for a 3 p.m. contest with the Varsity Reds.
