CORNWALL – The Robins Mid-Isle Matrix widened their lead atop the P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League standings on Tuesday night.
Nick Trainor and Kayden MacLeod each had a goal and two assists to lead the Matrix to a 7-4 victory over the Pownal Red Devils at the APM Centre.
The Matrix improved to 14-4-2 (won-lost-tied) to open up a seven-point lead over the second-place Red Devils (11-8-1).
Duncan Picketts (1-1), Zac MacKay (1-1), Chandler Laporte, Nathan Mahar and Callum Pineau also scored for Mid-Isle, which received a pair of assists from Ben Peters.
Grant Koughan (2), Sam Langile (1-1) and Will MacDougall (1-1) countered for the Red Devils. Dawson Palmer, Nick Steele, Shion Phelan and Jack Triantafflou chipped in with assists.
The teams were tied 2-2 after the first period, and the Matrix took a 4-2 advantage into the second intermission.
Jonah Arbing earned the goaltending win.
