SYDNEY, N.S. – Jeremy McKenna of Summerside continued to produce offensively for the Moncton Wildcats on Tuesday night.
McKenna scored his 11th goal of the 2018-19 season, and improved his Quebec Major Junior Hockey League-leading point total to 29 in 17 games in the Wildcats’ 4-3 road win over the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. McKenna opened up a two-point lead over the Rimouski Oceanic’s Alexis Lafreniére (7-20).
McKenna, who opened the scoring against the Screaming Eagles 1:23 into the first period, has recorded at least a point in 11 of the Wildcats’ 13 games in October.
The Wildcats improved to 12-3-2 (won-lost-overtime losses) to move into first-place overall in the 18-team league, one point ahead of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar (12-3-1). Baie-Comeau is scheduled to play Gatineau (7-6-3) on Wednesday night.
