FREDERICTON – Dixon MacLeod scored two late goals to help the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild salvage a road win over the Fredericton Caps on Friday night.

The second-year forward and assistant captain from Cornwall tied the game 3-3 with 4:32 remaining in the third period, and then, on a set-up by Colby MacArthur, scored the game-winning goal with 41 seconds showing on the clock to give the Wild a 4-3 victory.
It was Kensington’s fifth straight win in the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League. The second-place Wild improved to 10-2-1 (won-lost-overtime losses), and closed to within three points of the league-leading and undefeated Moncton Flyers (12-0-0). The Wild visits the Flyers at the Superior Propane Centre on Saturday night.

Three-point efforts
At Willie O’Ree Place, MacArthur (1-2) and MacLeod, who also added an assist, each had three-point efforts. Ryan Richards (1-1) netted Kensington’s other goal while assists went to defencemen Zac Arsenault (2) and Zach Biggar.
Ryan Penney, Connor Doherty and Cody Gilbert countered for Fredericton (3-8-2).
Overall, the Wild outshot the Caps 34-18. Josh Smith, who stopped a Fredericton breakaway late in the third period with the score knotted 3-3, earned the goaltending win. Blake Green was between the pipes for the Caps.
