SUMMERSIDE – Zac MacKay’s natural hat trick in the third period broke open a close P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League game on Wednesday night.
The Robin's Mid-Isle Matrix held period leads of 1-0 and 2-1, before MacKay put the game out of reach en route to a 5-1 win over the host Summerside Capitals at Credit Union Place.
Bailey Anderson and Zach Anderson rounded out the scoring for the first-place Matrix, who is 21-4-3 (won-lost-tied). Nick Trainor (3), Ben Peters (2), Chandler LaPorte, Colin Goodwin, Kyler Weeks and David Sato chipped in with assists.
