TYNE VALLEY, P.E.I. — Jesse MacIntyre’s third goal of the game at 3:10 of overtime lifted the Alberton Regals to a 5-4 win over the first-place Tyne Valley Tornadoes in the opening game of the West Prince Senior Hockey League playoffs at the Tyne Valley Community Sports Centre on Friday night.

Willie Gaudet and Logan Smallman also scored for the fourth-place Regals, who entered the best-of-five semifinal series with a 2-6-0 (won-lost-overtime losses) regular-season record.

Mike Callaghan (2), Connor Dillon and Matt Ballum replied for the Tornadoes (6-2-0). Dillon’s goal late in the third period forced overtime.
Travis Gaudette earned the goaltending win, and Jake Hackett was between the pipes for Tyne Valley.
Game 2 is scheduled for the Jacques Cartier Arena in Alberton on Wednesday at 8:15 p.m.
The other semifinal series between the second-place O’Leary Maroons (5-3-0) and third-place Wellington Flyers (3-4-1) will begin at the O’Leary Community Sports Centre on Saturday at 8 p.m.
