SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The UNB Reds have advanced to the semifinals of the U Sports national men’s hockey championship in Lethbridge, Alta.

UNB pulled out a 2-1 win over the Carleton Ravens in a quarter-final game Friday afternoon. The Reds, who are coached by Bedeque native Gardiner MacDougall, entered the 2019 Cavendish Farms Cup as the second seed, and will face the winner of Friday night’s quarter-final between St. Francis Xavier and Queen’s on Saturday at 9 p.m., Atlantic Time.
The championship game is scheduled for Sunday at 9 p.m.. The semifinals and final will be televised live on Sportsnet 360.
Former Summerside Western Capital Stephen Anderson of Morell assisted on UNB’s first goal.
Former Western Capital and Kinkora native Charlie Cameron is an assistant coach with UNB.
