KENSINGTON, P.E.I. — A 50-plus-year tradition will continue in Kensington this weekend.

The first half of the 51st annual peewee friendship hockey exchange between the Prince Edward Island town and Bedford, Que., will take place from Friday through to Sunday. The Kensington contingent will travel to Bedford later this season.
The Bedford contingent is scheduled to arrive on Friday at 3 p.m. A welcome dinner at the Kensington Legion and a free disco skate at Credit Union Centre across the street are scheduled for that evening.
The Legion will be the site of the popular “Friends of Bedford Breakfast” on Saturday beginning at 8 a.m., before the hockey action takes centre stage at Credit Union Centre at 10:30 a.m., with Kensington Team Two vs. Bedford Team Two. Kensington Team One will then take on Bedford Team One at 11:40 a.m.
The official ice-level opening ceremonies will take place at 4:30 p.m. That game will be followed by the main game between Kensington and Bedford.
Both teams will then be the guests of the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild for a New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League game against the Northern Moose at 7:30 p.m.
Highlights of Sunday’s schedule include the friendship game between Kensington and Bedford, and the closing dinner at the Kensington Legion at 6:30 p.m.
The Bedford contingent will depart early Monday morning.
