POWNAL, P.E.I. – The Eastern Express scored early and often en route to an 8-2 romp over the Mid-Isle Matrix in P.E.I. Bantam AAA Hockey action Thursday in Pownal.

Josh Burgess (1-1), Nolan Stewart, Ross Campbell and Avery Brown all scored in the first period, while Holden Bradley (1-3) and Caleb MacDonald (1-1) netted second-period markers. Stewart and Brown added goals in the third.

Brown also had three assists for a five-point game.

Jaden Murphy and Graysen LePorte netted the Matrix markers. Braedan Tremere and Spencer Toole each tallied an assist.

Ethan Smith earned the win over Tyler Rogers.

Eastern outshot Mid-Isle 45-34 and went 2-for-7 on the power play. Mid-Isle was 1-for-6 with the extra man.

The Express led 4-1 after the first and 6-2 at the second intermission.
