CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Cole Edwards scored his first game-winning goal for the Charlottetown Islanders Friday in a 2-1 victory over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

The Kingston, Ont., native scored his third of the season 12 minutes into the third. Derek Gentile tied the game 58 seconds into the final frame.

Veterans Keith Getson and Daniel Hardie, as well as rookies Zachary Beauregard and Xavier Fortin had the assists.

Liam Murphy beat Charlottetown goalie Dakota Lund-Cornish upstairs after making a nifty move to tip the puck around the defender and break in all alone in the first period. Cole Rafuse and Michal Ivan had the assists.

Lund-Cornish made 17 saves for the win while former Islanders goalie Mark Grametbauer stopped 44 shots in the loss. It was the Islanders second 2-1 victory over the Titans in seven days.

Charlottetown improved to 17-7-2-1, including 5-0-1-1 in its last seven games, while Acadie-Bathurst is 5-21-0-1.

The Islanders host the Val-d’Or Foreurs (10-14-2-1) Sunday at 3 p.m.
