BOUCTOUCHE, N.B. — Manuel Alberg scored the winner with 2:34 to play Sunday as the Moncton Wildcats defeated the Charlottetown Islanders 5-4 in Bouctouche, N.B.

The Isles concludes the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League pre-season 2-5-0-0 and begin the regular season Friday by hosting the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m.

The Islanders led Sunday’s game 4-3 after 40 minutes, but Kyle Foreman’s power-play goal 2:12 into the third period tied the contest.

Zachary L’Heureux, Tristan DeJong and Sean Stewart also scored in the win.

Zac Beauregard scored twice for the Islanders. One came on the power play and another on a penalty shot. Xavier Fortin also scored on the power play as the visitors went 2-for-3 with man advanatage. 

Gaetan Jobin rounded out the Isles scoring while assists went to Lukas Cormier, Kevin Gursoy, Cedric Desruisseaux, Oscar Plandowski and Beauregard.

Charles-Antoine Lavallee made 28 stops for the win while Matthew Welsh had 20 saves in the loss.
