Johnston earns
assist for Islanders
ANAHEIM, Calif. – New York Islanders forward Ross Johnston of Suffolk Road earned his first point of the 2018-19 National Hockey League regular season on Wednesday night.
Johnston, 24, assisted on Casey Cizikas’s goal at 19:25 of the third period in a 4-1 road loss to the Anaheim Ducks.
It was Johnston’s first regular-season game this year with the Islanders.
Johnston played junior hockey on P.E.I. with the Summerside Western Capitals of the MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League) and Charlottetown Islanders of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
McKenna named
first star of QMJHL game
MONCTON, N.B. – A three-point night by forward Jeremy McKenna of Summerside was not enough for the Moncton Wildcats on Wednesday night.
McKenna, who was named the game’s first star, scored two goals and assisted on another in the Wildcats’ 5-4 overtime loss to the Halifax Mooseheads before 3,771 fans at the Avenir Centre.
McKenna now has 19 points in 11 regular-season games in his third year with the Wildcats in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He has five goals and 14 assists.
Schedule change
for Western Capitals
TRURO, N.S. – There has been a schedule change for the Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals.
The MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League) issued a media release announcing the Caps’ home game against the Campbellton Tigers that was originally scheduled for Nov. 17 has been moved to Nov. 10 at 7 p.m.
