SAINT JOHN, N.B. – The Charlottetown Islanders took control in the third period en route to a 10-4 victory over the Sea Dogs Sunday in Saint John, N.B.

The game was tied 2-2 after the first while the Isles took a 5-4 lead to the final 20 minutes where they scored five unanswered goals to win their seventh straight game.

Daniel Hardie had two goals, including the winner, and three assists while Kevin Gursoy had four helpers to lead the way against their former team. Keith Getson and Hunter Drew each scored twice while Nikita Alexandrov, Derek Gentil and Thomas Casey each had a goal and an assist. Brett Budgell also scored while assists went to Jacob Arsenault, Brendon Clavelle, Colin Van Den Hurk, Zachary Beauregard and Lukas Cormier.

Brady Burns and Yohan Plamondon each had a goal and an assist for the Sea Dogs while Nicholas Deakin-Poot and Anthony Boucher rounded out the scoring.

Matthew Welsh made 28 saves for the win while Alex D’Orio allowed 10 goals on 36 shots in 54:53. Tommy DaSilva stopped all nine shots he faced in relief.

Saint John was 3-for-5 on the power play while Charlottetown didn't get a chance with the man advantage.

Charlottetown improved to 10-5-1-0 while Saint John is 2-11-2-1. The Islanders hit the road this week for Quebec where they play Drummondville on Friday, Victoriaville on Saturday and Sherbrooke on Sunday.
