CHARLOTTETOWN – Forward Taylor Gillis of Summerside scored her first goal and recorded her first regular-season point as a UPEI Panther on Sunday.
Gillis found the back of the net at 5:12 of the second period to give the Panthers a 4-0 lead over Moncton in Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey action at the Bell Aliant Centre. UPEI went on to win the game 6-3 to even its record at 1-1 (won-lost) after losing 4-0 to St. Thomas on Friday night.
Kelly Clements of High Bank and Maria Clinton of Souris each had a goal and an assist for UPEI.
Schurman earns assist
Saturday, Lydia Schurman of Summerside earned an assist for the St. Francis Xavier X-Women.
Schurman helped set up the X-Women’s fourth tally at 18:07 of the second period. It was her first point of the 2018-19 season, and the X-Women won 5-2.
In other action Saturday, Maddy Koughan of Mermaid scored in overtime to lift the Mount Allison Mounties to a 2-1 win over UNB. It was the first goal of the season for Koughan, who was named the game’s third star.
