CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Hunter Drew will miss today’s game with the Moncton Wildcats.

The Charlottetown Islanders defenceman was handed a two-game suspension Saturday by the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for a hit to the head of Victoriaville Tigres star Vitalii Abramov on Friday.

Drew, a 19-year-old Kingston, Ont., native, has seven goals and 29 assists for 36 points in 59 games this season. The six-foot-one, 190-pound blue-liner also has 138 penalty minutes in his second season with the Isles.

Former Islanders defenceman Andrew Smith was also given a one-game suspension for being the third man into a fight in the third period of Friday’s game.
