Dobson records assist in Game 1 victory for Titan

BATHURST, N.B. – Captain Jeffrey Truchon-Viel had two goals and two assists to pace the Acadie-Bathurst Titan to a 6-3 victory over the Victoriaville Tigres in Game 1 of their best-of-seven Quebec Major Junior Hockey League semifinal.

Summerside native Noah Dobson had an assist in the win in Bathurst, N.B.

Justin Ducharme had two goals and an assist while defenceman Olivier Galipeau had a power-play goal and an assist while Ethan Crossman rounded out the scoring.

Samuel I’talien and Keenan MacIsaac each had two assists while German Rubtsov and Antoine Morand each added one.

Vitalii Abramov, Jimmy Huntington and Simon Lafrance scored for Victoriaville while Maxime Comtois recorded a pair of assists and singles went to Vincent Lanoue, Ivan Kosorenkov and Chase Harwell.

Evan Fitzpatrick made 24 saves for the win while Etienne Montpetit stopped 21 of 26 shots in 29:49 before being replaced by Tristan Cote-Cazenave, who stopped all eight shots he faced.

The Titan held 2-1 and 5-2 period leads.

The home side went 1-for-4 on the power play and scored twice shorthanded. The Tigres were 1-for-8 on the power play.

Game 2 goes tonight at 7 p.m. in Bathurst, N.B.
