CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Five second-period goals broke open a close game and propelled the Western Regals to a 10-3 win over the Sherwood Drug Mart Central Attack Thursday in P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League action at Cody Banks Arena.
Western led 4-2 going into the second frame before Jack Reilly (1-1), Ethan Oliver (1-1), Chase Gaudette, Kalim DesRoches and Sam Hackett all found the back of the net, gave the Regals a 9-3 lead and fuelled the victory.
DesRoches scored twice in the first, had an assist in the second and, with a third-period score, tallied a five-point night. Kennedy Gallant and Thomas Rennie had the other Western markers.
Multiple assist games went to Chandler DesRoches (5), Michael MacRae (4) and Jacob Hogan (2).
Nick Reeves scored twice for Central. Josh Lund netted the other Attack score. Luke Dillon chipped in two assists.
Cole Gallant earned the win over Keegan Duffy.
Central was 0-for-1 on the power play, while Western was 0-for-5 with the extra man.
